California is one of the pioneer states in providing solar grants to people, families, and businesses hoping to install solar panels and other energy saving devices in their homes. With the new administration, there will hopefully be lots of these types of reforms all over the country. Check into your local governments, then your state governments, when looking to install any type of green device!

One grant period just ended and I think, for now, there are none active. I think, though, that our new president will get something going in that department so, if I were you, I'd start the planning and the budgeting. By the time you get it all figured out, you'll likely have some financial help around.
The link below goes to the company I used to prepare a bid on my house. Be careful, it's an ad. But you can find phone numbers and call them. It'll be their business to track things like grants.

no grants. If you want free energy, you have to pay up front, that's how the rest of the country works.
Now do you understand why CA is broke?

There is a rebate program called "The California Solar Initiative". They also have incentives (grants) for low-income households. More detailed information is found on the website.
