I know someone that is checking into applying for a grant from NPC National Process(ing) Center (NPC), a company that uses its expertise to help find people grants that are right for them in exchange for a fee. They seem to be legit but a good start would be to check with FAFSA first, if looking for a grant for education.

I would be weary of any company that asks you for money in order to give you money. Healthy skepticism tells me that any company that acts as a liason between other grant agencies cannot "guarentee" anything, and you could therefor be wasting money that could otherwise fund your education. I didn't see any bad reviews on google, but I definitely suggest doing some out of source research on the company. Good luck with finding financial aid and don't forget to check out fafsa.org for other grant oportunities.

This has scam written all over it. I don't what they did that made you feel it could be legit, but it's not. Have you seen their website?? nationalprocesscenter.org
If it WERE legit they wouldn't be charging you a fee. ANYWHERE that wants to charge you a "fee"–for whatever purpose whether it's postage/processing/man power/whatev–to get "free money" is ripping you off.
First off, it fails to be free grant money–you just paid them for it! Second of all, I'm sorry but nothing in life is that easy.
If you want grant money for school you need to talk to your financial aid office. They are experts at finding grants for you–and it's their job—AND IT'S FREE.
Just fill out a fafsa.

Absolutely positively without a doubt a scam. These scams have been around the financial aid community for years. They operate in different parts of the country until the authorities shut them down. They want you to pay them to help you fill out the FAFSA, which can be done for free. Some of them will help you commit fraud to obtain grants, and people have actually faced federal criminal charges just for being suckered in. You should NEVER pay a dime to apply for financial aid.
