Wanting to install a solar water heater on your roof? Or maybe some solar panels to help with your electrical costs?
Here’s a list of financial incentives for renewables in Oklahoma: http://www.dsireusa.org/library/includes/map2.cfm?CurrentPageID=1&State=OK&RE=1&EE=1. There are also federal tax incentives to going green this way. Definitely, go with at least the hot water–payback will come in a year or two, even without tax incentives.
Using solar power brings us all one step closer to becoming self-sufficient, and it reduces our carbon footprints. There are tax incentives and government grants available to those who want to take on the task of installing solar panels on their homes. Check locally first, and then look into Federal grant money.
“I own a countertop company and we are currently using green products, recycled materials and recycled office supplies. We(as a company) would like to start using machinery to recycle our water, as this is a huge part of our industry, as all of our production has to be done wet. We are also looking into air filters to improve the air quality in the shop. Solar power and air power would be great but as of now we don’t own the building. We are a very environmentally concerned company and any info would be fantastic. Thank you all for your help.”

"I have always wanted to find better means of providing energy for my house. Since "Green" is the new buzzword on the lips and hearts of all, I was wondering if the government had any grant programs to help "green" up your house?"
There are various state and federal programs available. It mainly depends where you live and various specs about your house and your income, etc. Check these links out and see what is available where you live. It will generally be in the form of tax credits, so if your income is low enough where you don’t pay taxes, you may not be able to benefit from these programs. Save The Dunes Conservation Fund, together with diverse partners, constructed a solar greenhouse between April 22 and July 13th of 2006. The greenhouse will improve local capacity for restoration work and served as training to educate land managers and others on the conservation benefits of this type of greenhouse. The greenhouse project was funded in part by a 5-Star Restoration Challenge Solar Grant.
To begin, the greenhouse area was cleared of any trees that may have presented a problem in a windstorm. Small tree stumps were dug out and the area was cleared of vegetation before the ground was prepared for construction. Concrete was ordered for the foundation after applying and receiving a city building permit. Invasive black locust trees, used for support beams, were peeled and coated with polyurethane. Construction materials included locally grown straw bales and local clay for the adobe insulation.
Two weekend workshops were held, which attracted many local citizens and a non-local group from the Americorps NCCC. The participants learned how to construct a solar greenhouse and will have this knowledge for future endeavors. The workshops were training events for the Indiana Coastal Restoration Action Team project which was funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lake Michigan Coastal Program.
Save the Dunes Conservation Fund and Save the Dunes Council were honored by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for completion of this 5-Star Restoration Challenge Grant project. A bronze plaque was presented for installation in the greenhouse.
