Hello I play guitar and would like to study full time.
are there any scholorships that I can apply for?
I don't know about general scholarships, but any school you look at will have scholarships they offer students. A good music/performing arts school in North Carolina is the North Carolina School of the Arts. Check 'em out: http://www.ncarts.edu/
Being really serious about playing an instrument will probably mean going to a good summer music camp, but they can cost anywhere from $500 - $5000. Check into music grants or scholarships to help pay for tuition. Sometimes, depending on your income level, you can get reduced tuition on top of a scholarship or grant.
I'm a music producer based out of L.A. I've got some credits to my name but i'm really trying to expand. I decided to make it official and get my production company incorporated. I'm debating on getting a business loan so i can launch the company the way it needs to be done. Can anyone make any suggestions for making this a reality ? Where can i find loans? Can i get grants?
No.
im 42 and want to go back to college just thought I would throw this out there. going for computer technology and music , i(already play a piano
thanks for any suggestions???
Go to the school you want to attend and they will direct you to the right financial aid path. You will definitely need to fill out a FASFA so go ahead and start that. (not too bad, but a lot of tedious info). Deadlines for financial aid are coming up, so if you are planning on going back in the fall, i would get started now.
Grants are given on to those with lower incomes. I don't know what you income is, but if you make a decent living, you might not qualify for them. BUT, you will be able to get federal loans, which are at a fixed rate. The subsidized loans are the best to get because the government pays the interest while you are in school. Again, your financial aid office will be able to help you more with that.
Be careful of continuing education classes, as they may not be covered for financial aid at your school; it varies…
Good Luck! I love hearing people say they want to go back to school
My friend’s daughter wants to take guitar lessons but prices are pretty ridiculous - they can’t find anything under $25 an hour. He’s hoping to find a program that provides music grants or scholarships for music lessons to children, preferably something local. I know there’s federal grant money available for similar purposes, but finding a local program might be a bit trickier.
A friend of mine is hoping to open a very classy bistro and has a lot of great ideas, such as dancing waiters and European-style decorations with a winery motif. He’s hoping to find a music grant to partially fund the venture, as so much of it will be music themed. He’s intending to put in all the work, just needs some help with the financial startup.
Most grants are available only to non-profit businesses, but looking for loans or private investors are other options, especially if you have a really great idea.
it would be decorated like a european vinary and all the waiters would be dancers I have incredible ideas need dollars goverment or investors or parter I do the work you put in the money………………….
It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business.
Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html
"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."
Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.
I recently spoke with a woman from a very rural area hoping to find some kind of grant, maybe a music grant, to get funding to start an after school program for the local kids. She wants a building and resources to teach music lessons, and also help with school work or information on how to obtain a GED. She wants to go as far as to provide job training.
There might be grants out there specifically for non-profits in rural areas. I told her to check into her local resources first and then check out federal level grants.
If you want to create a museum exhibit and need grant money related to music grants for the exhibit, a good place to start is simply the museum that you are interested in hosting your exhibit. They can help you find funding or may even go get you funding themselves!
Great question from a music producer looking for Music Grants. All I can say is if you are in education or an education related field, there is grant money out there for you, especially for arts and music related things. The person who asked the question is obviously in line for some serious money:
UPDATE: read the comments for great answers to his question!
I’m a music producer interested in helping out young artist further there music knowledge from the Music Production side of things. Are there any possible grants out there available for such a program?
You can try to go it alone - check out if there are any available grants at http://www.grants.gov
But you might be better served by checking out any but well-established community service organizations or youth organizations that already have the staff and skills in place to obtain funding, and pitch a partnership. If you can find an agreeable partner, you will have a better chance of success, and as you gain experience, you will be more prepared to strike out on your own.but the
We have started a Theatre production club at my daughters elementary school. The district funded it, but it was difficult to get them to give it up. I’m wondering, is there an easier way? Who could we ask for donations, maybe some great fundraisers??
