YES!  There are all sorts of grants available to citizens trying to make their existence ‘greener’.  Whether you’re starting a new business and want to lessen your carbon footprint or are just a regular citizen trying to make the world a better place, check into the many grants available.  Look at this site:  www.dsireusa.org, where there is a map to choose your state or federal programs.  There is also a Federal tax deduction for solar, wind, and the installation of many other green energy systems.

I recently got this email:

“I’m looking to go back to college, though I graduated back in 2003. I’m a single mom and I work one full time job. I’ve been searching for grants that can help me further my education and I’ve applied for the Pell grant and another one. That leaves me about $5,000 short for school. I don’t want to have to apply for a loan because I know they check credit and that takes points off of my credit score. Does anyone know of any charities, business, government grants or scholarships that award or give money for college? I don’t know if it helps but my major is digital movie production.”

A Pell Grant will probably only pay for one degree, so this woman might not qualify for one now.  A grant or scholarship might be her best bet, and it’s good that she knows how she wants to further her education.

Our old neighbors have moved to New Zaeland and are hoping to use government solar grants to install solar panels.  They said they’ve read there is a government grant of $1000 available for anyone planning to undertake this task.

But what will the entire job cost them, does anyone know?

It would be for a three-bedroom house, single story, on a hill.

I’d love to see comments on this if anyone has any thoughts!!

I spoke to someone recently who needs to go back to school and is hoping to just get a Bachelor’s Degree.  Unfortunately, they’ve been out of work for several months and can’t afford to pay for an education and a career change!  This is the type of situation many people find themselves in.  The best solution:  Look into grants for education.  Filling out a FAFSA form is the best way to start.  You’ll be able to find out what kind of grants and scholarships you qualify for, and then start your life over again!

California is one of the pioneer states in providing solar grants to people, families, and businesses hoping to install solar panels and other energy saving devices in their homes.  With the new administration, there will hopefully be lots of these types of reforms all over the country.  Check into your local governments, then your state governments, when looking to install any type of green device!

My friend has 240 acres of land in Southern Indiana and they need to know where to get some good information on what to farm and how to get started.  Their money situation is dire and getting worse so they’re hoping to get information on farm grants and loans to get the land ready and everything in place to start making money.  They’re thinking of doing some kind of fruit farm - raspberries or apples, and are interested in maybe growing them organically.

Starting an organic farm, or any other kind of fruit farm, might make you eligible for some kind of state or federal grant money.

"I want to start an organic farm in Ash Fork AZ. Can any one help?"

There are all sorts of new farm grants for farmers needing help getting started, especially when the farm is organic, self-sustaining, or land friendly.  Check with local Arizona government agencies about loans and grants before spending any of your own money!

If you live anywhere in the US, there are government solar grants available to help install solar panels and other energy saving devices.  Government incentives and tax breaks also exist.  Check locally first if you want to make your house a little more environmentally friendly.  Also, the US Department of Energy has lots of tips and might be able to point you in the right direction to get grants and other free government money.
