Where to go to apply for a grant for education to cover living expenses and school costs?
Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/
Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for people your age.
Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com
You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.
My friend is about to graduate from college and is looking for resources to help pay for education. Surfing http://www.grants.gov she hasn’t had good luck so far. There are grants for education, though, to help pay for the cost of school.
The site for grants for students is: http://fafsa.ed.gov. I’ve found that the ‘grants.gov’ is mainly for social service agency’s and foundations and not open to individuals for individual needs.
There are plenty of places to look for information on grants for education out there. Check with your local agencies first; also, there are a lot of books on the subject.
After attending a state college after graduating high school in 1968, my friend’s higher education is out-of-date. Online schools do not interest him. Computers didn’t exist when he received his “traditional” education. He’s healthy, creative and ambitious and simply wants to pursue a degree and career, but happens to be 57 and wants to start the second half of his productive life!
There are lots of grants for education out there, but also many schools offer scholarship programs based on age. Continuing one’s education shouldn’t be determined by age!
Here is a site with a lot of information on cash grants for education, depending on exactly what you’re looking for:

Someone was asking about a grant for education - how do you know if it counts as a location education authority grant? They applied through the studentfinancedirect.co.uk.
If this was the case, then the relavent LEA will sort it out and will know where the grant originated.
A friend was asking me about solar grants in the UK to get solar panels installed.
I did some research, and solar grants in the UK do exist, and should cover about a thousand grand, so I told him it depended on how much he expected to save. There are also other grants for offered to people who install other efficient appliances.
