My buddy is trying to start a business in the solar panel field and is wanting to get information on solar grants to help with capital. It’s not exactly non-profit but is geared toward helping low income people find ways to make their homes more efficient.
I saw a kinda old show on PBS today about solar panels and they said that there are 14 states that have a grant that will pay half of the price to put solar panels on your house. They didn't show Pennsylvania, but has that changed, or is there any kind of tax rebate or anything?
I work in the industry in Australia…. They give $8000 flat…. Our most popular selling model is the minimum qualifier for the rebate at $12k (1kw system) that brings the price down to $4000……………………
If you buy $200k of solar panels they still give you 8k rebate flat……. It is just stupid.
I would have a look into hot water systems first anyway as they are generally the largest energy consumer next to heating and cooling your house.
Starting a small farm out obviously requires the purchasing of land. This takes capital. There are farm grants out there available to people who want to take this step, if they know exactly what they want to do with the land and have a good knowledge of the land they have in mind.
There is no universal Federal solar panel grant available to everyone. It depends on your home type, income level, business type or energy saving plan. It’s good to start locally, finding green business in your area and asking them what resources they know of, and then moving up to a state level to find out what kinds of grants/loans are available. Going green is always worth the effort of finding the startup funds!
These friends of mine are hoping to completely drop off of the grid and want to install solar panels and other independent energy sources on their home. They are hoping to find a solar grant or some other kind of grant to get started, and maybe eventually sell power back to the power company.
Getting farm grants to run an animal shelter or rescue pretty much requires you to be non-profit. Profitable business have a much harder time getting grants of any source, especially when animals are involved.
I’ve heard of people who are interested in Wind Turbines or Solar Power and are searching for solar grants to help cover the costs for residential set-ups. These grants are sometimes only available to businesses, mainly non-profit, so finding a grant like this might be difficult. Start at a local level with green companies that have already done the research into getting aid in this form.
There are many places to find grants for education, FAFSA being the best place to start. A grant is an excellent way to enable yourself to further your education without having the burden of paying back thousands of dollars worth of loans. Go to your school and ask them where to start; most schools have a financial aid department designed especially to help students navigate through the various types of grants and loans.

Interesting video of a home powered by solar energy. Look into solar grants available to modify your home like this one and save money.
One of our local schools is in the process of being rebuilt, but the building plans don’t seem to include any environmental benefits. There have got to be solar grants or other types of grants available to schools to cover the cost of making them more green. Making the school more efficient will, in the end, save taxpayers money and save the planet.
