Chester County Reads: Verizon Literacy Program

The foundation is pleased to administer this grant program for Verizon. Chester County nonprofits that sponsor literacy initiatives for family, youth, and/or adults are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Priority is given to e-literacy initiatives which bridge the digital divide through computer literacy. Literacy proposals received by Sept. 15 will be eligible for consideration. Application Information

Visit foundation Web site for application form and guidelines. Proposals submitted by Sept. 15 will receive priority consideration under all grantmaking programs.
Application form required.
Applicants should submit the following:

   1. Timetable for implementation and evaluation of project
   2. Results expected from proposed grant
   3. Statement of problem project will address
   4. Population served
   5. Name, address and phone number of organization
   6. Copy of IRS Determination Letter
   7. Brief history of organization and description of its mission
   8. Geographic area to be served
   9. Copy of most recent annual report/audited financial statement/990
  10. Listing of board of directors, trustees, officers and other key people and their affiliations
  11. Detailed description of project and amount of funding requested
  12. Contact person
  13. Copy of current year's organizational budget and/or project budget
  14. Listing of additional sources and amount of support

Board meeting date(s): Feb., May., Sept., and Nov.
Deadline(s): Sept. 15 for Unrestricted funds; none for Donor-Advised and Field-of-Interest funds
